Tasty Liver Brownies

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs Beef Liver (Organic is best)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2-3 Tbs. Chopped Garlic
  • 1 cup Wheat Germ
  • 1 cup Blackstrap Molasses
  • 5 cups Whole Wheat* Flour (Buckwheat, Rice or Rye Flour can be used)

Put liver, garlic, eggs and molasses in a blender or food processer
In large bowl mix the flour with wheat germ
    Add wet ingredients
Pour into large flat oiled cake pan
Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes
Cool and cut into small pieces

These make moist treats and can be rolled into little balls for training.

*NOTE: These are not recommended for dogs with allergies due to the grain content.

Frozen Treats for Hot Summer Days

    Ingredients
  • 1 carton plain lowfat yogurt (large size)
  • 2 bananas mashed up, or 2 big jars of baby bananas
  • 2 TBSP Peanut Butter
    Optional: add 1 TBSP honey

    Freeze in ice cube trays.

    Raw Patties for Dogs

This is Dr. Billinghursts' recipe for RAW patties for dogs. He devised these patties when one of his own dogs would not eat vegetables. They are based on raw crushed vegetables (he recommends strongly that you use a juicer to crush veggies). The vegetable content should be at least half of the total. Eg: One kilo - vegetables - such as carrots, celery, spinach, broccoli, etc. The other half consists of 1 kilo lean, raw, chopped meat such as - beef, chicken, lamb, (pork).

To which he adds such things as:
  • yoghurt - low fat and plain - half a small tub eggs - raw preferably free range - about 3 flax seed oil - 2 or 3 dessert spoons (Wysong EFA Mix available at natural animal health foods)
  • liver - raw - garlic - 2 or 3 cloves - kelp powder - up to 4 teaspoons (Organic Kelp and Alpha available at natural animal health foods)
  • B vitamins - a teaspoon of Troy Vite B (Troy Vite B is a B complex Vitamin powder available in Australia)
  • PLUS OTHER HEALTHY FOOD SCRAPS (e.g. small amounts of cooked veggies, rice, cottage cheese, etc.)

We'll be adding more recipes here soon, so please check back often.
