› services: routine exams
As most know, one year in the life of a dog or a cat translates to several (as many as seven) human years. We strongly believe that even if you perceive your pet to be healthy with no physical or emotional problems, we should perform a full physical exam at least once yearly. Often there are new findings as far as pet health is concerned and information is always rapidly changing. During our physical exams, your pet is examined by a qualified veterinarian. This entails a full examination from head to toe! We will listen to your pet's heart and lungs and feel their abdomen and physically assess the kidney, the intestine and so on. Included in this exam is a discussion of your concerns, nutrition, and any supplements that your pet may be taking. After the exam, we may recommend some changes in diet or supplements. We strongly believe that vaccination should not be part of the yearly check-up. We will discuss any new information on the vaccination issue which is the subject of much debate these days. Often, a simple blood test called a titer test, is recommended to assess your pet's prior reaction to vaccination and assumed protection against the common infectious diseases we see in our region. This test measures the antibody level in the blood. |
